It’s a time to reflect on historic struggles, honor accomplishments, and celebrate the rich culture of the Black Community. While the contributions, accomplishments, and culture of the Black community should be acknowledged and celebrated every day, this month provides a time to renew your focus on learning. We’ve compiled a list of ways to learn and celebrate across metro Detroit.

Other Ways to Support

  • Research Black history in your community.
  • Read Black literature.
  • Support Black artists and musicians.

Most importantly keep learning and reflecting and remember that the challenges Black individuals face are ongoing, not just history. Incorporate anti-racism into everyday action, not just during Black History month. More anti-racism and equity resources can be found here.
