What made you decide to pursue a degree in psychology?
I鈥檓 generally fascinated by how people make decisions and choose to live their lives.聽 I also find myself interested in issues of social justice and diversity and value being useful to others.聽 Being able to be part of a learning community at 海角乱伦 where my 鈥済eek鈥� side can thrive as well as being able to continue seeing clients in private practice allows me to live my values.聽 Psychology is the perfect blend of my interests and values.
What do you think led you to teach at 海角乱伦?聽
I chose to join the 海角乱伦 team because of my interest in mentoring graduate students and the opportunities that exist at the school.聽 I enjoy collaborating with students in my research team, teaching and training future psychologists, and being part of a committed and collegial faculty.
What鈥檚 your favorite part of teaching?
Class discussions.聽 I like to hear what students are thinking!
What would people be surprised to learn about you?聽
I think my tendency to be a pretty open person results in others rarely being surprised.
What鈥檚 your favorite kind of music?
That really depends on what I鈥檓 doing!聽 I like classical or easy listening when I鈥檓 grading, country, reggae, pop, or rock when I鈥檓 hanging out around the house (depends on what I鈥檓 doing and how I鈥檓 feeling), and techno or classical when I鈥檓 writing.
What do you do in your free time?聽
I like to play disc golf; visit my family, friends and fraternity brothers; check out new restaurants with my partner; read a good book; or go for a run around my neighborhood.
