Faculty Spotlight: Joelle Frangie, PsyD, DLLP

Joelle Frangie, DLLP (MA โ€™18, PsyD โ€™23) is an adjunct faculty member teaching Research Foundations in the MA program this semester.

Where did you grow up?

Okemos, Michigan

What or who influenced you to study psychology?

As a junior in college studying a major I lost interest in, I felt stuck in a field that no longer fit for me. During that time, a friend pointed out that my eyes โ€œlit upโ€ while discussing my passion for forensic psychology. Thatโ€™s when I decided to change my academic trajectory to psychology, and I still thank that friend for her helpful insight!

What are your research and/or clinical interests?

I enjoy the wide range of opportunities that the field of clinical psychology offers. Iโ€™m particularly passionate about conducting psychological assessments.

What appeals to you most about teaching at บฃฝวยายื?

I often think about how helpful the psychologists I encountered throughout my academic career were in helping me learn and reach my goals. Through teaching at บฃฝวยายื, I hope to offer that same gift to others.

What is your favorite non-academic book, and why?

My favorite book is How to Do the Work by Nicole LaPera, because self-healing is a brave and exciting journey.
