Book I would recommend: I鈥檝e been listening to many incredible audiobooks written by Yalom, Mate, Horney, Perry and Levine among others. Recently, I finished Sometimes Therapy Is Awkward by Nicole Artz, which helped normalize feelings of uncertainty for new therapists and explains what it鈥檚 like to be a therapist through various situations and career stages.
Favorite Quote: I have two quotes, which inspire me. The first is 鈥淭he Man in The Arena鈥� by Theodore Roosevelt. The second is by Carl Jung. 鈥淜now all the theories, master all the techniques, but as you touch a human soul be just another human soul.”
What would people be surprised to know about you?聽
I鈥檓 quite an open book. However, people might be surprised to know I owned an interior design business for over a decade.
Name a cause you are passionate about.
A cause I am passionate about and have been involved in for a few years is LACASA. I am a Court Appointed Special Advocate or CASA. I work on cases through the Livingston County court with children who have suffered abuse and neglect and have been removed from the custody of their parents, whether temporary or in hopes of reunification. It鈥檚 incredibly important these kiddos have at least one stable figure in their lives and a CASA can be that person.
Why did you choose 海角乱伦?
I chose to attend 海角乱伦 due to their humanistic approach, the intimate setting and smaller class size. I feel these qualities will contribute greatly to the level of education, knowledge and experience I will receive.
What do you want to do with your degree?
My master鈥檚 degree in clinical psychology is an important step to furthering my education, knowledge, skills and obtaining licensure. My goal is to provide individual and family therapy with a focus on attachment and trauma. I am also interested in working with divorcing couples and their children to navigate the experience in a cohesive manner, allowing for stability and expectancy in the child鈥檚 life.
What is your plan after graduation?
My plan following graduation is to work for a private/group practice while attending the doctoral program at 海角乱伦. Ultimately, I am interested in working for a private practice, in a hospital setting or in my own practice.
