What would people be surprised to know about you?

People might be surprised to know that at one point in time I was ranked 2nd in the nation when I used to compete in collegiate wrestling.

Name a cause you are passionate about.

Something I have a passion for is understanding mental illness and how it can affect an individual’s life. I think there is a stigma that is attached to mental health that is caused by a lack of understanding from the general public. I would like to be a catalyst in helping provide a better understanding so that we can advocate for those who do experience the hardships that can go hand-in-hand with mental illness on a broader societal level.

Why did you choose º£½ÇÂÒÂ×?

I choose the program at º£½ÇÂÒÂ× to push myself out of my comfort zone and grow personally and professionally in the field of psychology. I have always had an interest in psychology and the real-time application of the principles to help individuals live a healthy well-balanced life physically, mentally, and emotionally. After spending a lot of time researching the master’s program, attending an informational seminar, and contemplating if this was the next step for me, I realized that º£½ÇÂÒÂ× and I are a great fit for each other.

While attending one of the open houses provided by the program I really found the institution’s principles aligned with my own. I left the open house with the feeling that º£½ÇÂÒÂ× and its staff really strive to create an environment that encourages students to think outside of the box in order to develop personal and professional growth. This is something that I really admire in an institution as I pride myself on being a critical thinker.

What do you want to do with your degree?

After graduating from the master’s program I would like to apply for the PsyD program at º£½ÇÂÒÂ×. Eventually, I would like to open my own practice.

What are you most looking forward to about your program?

I am excited to take this time to learn and grow from the individuals around me in the program. I am looking forward to being surrounded by others who can provide a different perspective on the topics that will be discussed throughout the curriculum.
