The JBHPS supports a PsyD student who is committed to advancing the science and practice of humanistic psychology as demonstrated by excellence in scholarship. Click here for application.

The Sidney Berkowitz Scholarship for Clinical Excellence was established in 2022 to honor Dr. Berkowitz, beloved former faculty member, esteemed clinician, and long-time supporter of the º£½ÇÂÒÂ×. Dr. Berkowitz freely gave of his time for guest lecturing on topics relevant to psychotherapy for many years following his retirement from º£½ÇÂÒÂ×. Click here for application.Ìý

Eligibility criteria:Ìý

• be in good academic standing in an MA or PsyD program.
• show excellence in clinical work as demonstrated by average ratings of 4 or higher in the faculty supervisor’s evaluations of clinical training for Master of Arts students, 4.7 or higher for PsyD practicum students.
• demonstrate a commitment to clinical practice using humanistic values/principles.
• make effective use of supervisory meetings.

The Aombaye Ramsey Diversity Award (ARDA) was created in 2004 to honor Dr. Aombaye Ramsey’s lifelong commitment to social justice. This award supports a PsyD student who shares that same commitment to advocate on behalf of diversity issues. Priority will be given to applicants who belong to an ethnic, racial, or cultural group traditionally underrepresented in the field of psychology. Click here for application.

• Demonstrated promotion of diversity issues and awareness through professional presentations, clinical work and/or research.
• Expertise in working with and strong advocacy of underserved populations.
• Continuous good academic standing.

MA graduate – $1,000; ÌýPsyD graduate – $1,500

The Marjorie Scott Scholarship for Excellence was established in January 2006 to honor Dr. Scott’s encouragement of academic excellence. This scholarship is presented at commencement to a graduating student from each academic program who has best achieved excellence in academics, clinical work, and research. • Successful fulfillment of all degree requirements.
• Outstanding academic achievement throughout the program.
• Active participation in the º£½ÇÂÒÂ× community.
• Demonstrated excellence in academic performance, presentations, clinical training, scholarly projects, publications, and professional behavior.
• PsyD graduates – demonstrated excellence in dissertation.

Application deadline: June 20

º£½ÇÂÒÂ× designates funds each year to support students’ professional development. These funds are intended to help off-set the cost of conferences and professional development trainings for º£½ÇÂÒÂ× students. Funds are prioritized for students who are presenting at the APA Convention or for APA Division Conferences. However, a request for funding may be submitted for any psychology-related professional development opportunity.
